NINE

No turning back, she thought as he picked her up and gently placed her on top of his bed. His lips never left hers, his whole body attuned to her every move as he followed her motions, stretching next to her restless frame. His tongue found hers, coaxing it into a duel. Each deliberate stroke sent her higher and higher into the realm where only pleasure existed.

His nimble fingers made short work of untangling the robe, then pushing it aside. The flimsy scrap of fabric did nothing to protect her from the sensuous assault of his fingertips as they swept from her thighs to her ribcage. They found her breasts, firm and full, tipped with pink nipples already tightened into centers of pleasure so intense that bordered on pain. His index finger hooked first under one and then the second of the spaghetti straps of her gown. After pulling it down to her waist, warm hands returned to her flesh, caressing the firm globes and tracing ever-smaller circles leading up to the rock-hard tips that begged for his attention. She couldn’t stop herself from whimpering when he finally obliged, rolling the turgid tip between his fingertips. An empty ache built deep inside her, growing with each stroke of his hands. She desperately needed more, her legs moving restlessly against the sheets.

He understood. His mouth left hers as he kissed his way down her throat, lingering in the hollow of her neck long enough to lick the heated skin, before moving lower. The excruciatingly slow journey ended when his lips closed around one of her nipples. She could only gasp, weaving her fingers into his hair, the silky strands brushing against her skin. With each rhythmic movement of his mouth, she felt herself opening even further. The passages inside her hot, excited body became slick, ready to welcome his flesh. But he wasn’t in any rush, apparently. When she tried to move, he stopped her, lifting his head as his hands imprisoned her wrists, pressing them into the bed in a commanding motion.

‘Don’t.’ Dark and hot, his gaze filled her stomach with a million butterflies. ‘I’m trying to do my best to take it slow, Elly. But if you don’t cooperate, I won’t last long.’

‘I don’t want it to be slow.’ Even to her own ears, she sounded like a whiny child. But she was absolutely ready for him, and his reluctance to move faster drove her crazy. She wanted him inside her, filling the void and making her forget everything but here and now, even for just one night.

‘You’ll have to be patient.’ He smiled into her eyes, his wolfish grin a promise of pleasure to come. ‘I’m planning on savoring every delicious part of you before I bury myself inside you, darling. I want to do this…’ He paused to flick his hot tongue over her other nipple. ‘And this…’ His head dipped lower, and he kissed the taut skin of her concave abdomen, his fingers skimming over her hipbones as he pulled the slip off completely, leaving her naked to his exploring gaze.
